Feel Familiar?

Let's be honest - our clutter can make us feel awful.

Here are the most common feelings people associate with their clutter - see if they're familar.
  • Overwhealmed
  • Out of control
  • Exhausted by it all
  • Exhausted by the thought of how long it'll take to clear
  • No idea where to start with it all
  • As if the clutter is growing before their very eyes
  • As if they will never clear it
  • Fearful of letting go
  • As though they've wasted all this money on things they don't use
  • Safe knowing it's there
  • Needed by others because they come to them when they need something
  • It could all come in useful some day
  • As though they're hitting their head against a brick wall
  • Swamped
  • As though they're drowing in the clutter
  • Like a failure
  • Frustrated
  • Angry
  • Unsettled
  • As though they have no choice
  • Lonely because they don't invite people round
  • Irrational because they can't clear and control it
  • Inadequate
  • Annoyed
  • Running out of time
  • Under pressure
  • Stupid
  • As if there's no light at the end of the tunnel

I could go on - there are 101 ways we can feel about our clutter.

But imagine feeling a few of the following things that clients have used to describe how they feel after a day or two of Help in their Home, or a month of Telephone Coaching:

  • Able to see and feel a real difference in their home
  • Motivated to make time to continue what they've started
  • Relieved that they know how to do it now
  • More in control
  • That they finally UNDERSTAND why they have their clutter and what they need to do to clear and control it
  • Can see a slight light at the end of the tunnel
  • As though they have choices
  • Glad they know they're not alone
  • Knowledgeable - because they understand what they've got to do to clear it now
  • Hopeful that they will clear it
  • OK with making decisions
  • Able to see the clutter objectively
  • Able to make realistic rather than ruthless decisions
  • Pleased to see the floor / surfaces / potential of the room/s
  • Amazed at what they found amongst the clutter that they didn't know they had
  • Amazed at just how many shampoos / pens / notebooks / carrier bags etc they had!
  • Surprised by how much they got through
  • Surprised that it wasn't harder than they thought it would be
  • Energised by the space they've created
  • Exhausted - but in a good way!
  • Confident that if they can stay on track they will get to the end

And the following are words and phrases that clients have used to describe how they feel after the 6 weeks of follow up support:
  • Can see a huge visible difference
  • Life is just so much EASIER
  • The clutter isn't in the way
  • No longer feel the need to buy things just because they're on special offer
  • Decisions on things are coming easily
  • If it doesn't feel right to make a decision, it's OK not to force a decision
  • It doesn't take much to get back in control
  • Able to socialise in the home again / for the first time ever
  • Not feel ashamed to have people into the home
  • The light at the end of the tunnel is light and bright
  • It won't take much energy to reach the end of the tunnel
  • Feel that they have a routine at last
  • Things are no longer getting lost in the clutter
  • Able to see what's out of place and know where to put things back
  • Feel happier
  • Feel healthier
  • Feel in control
  • Feel in control of the paperwork
  • Confident of reaching the end of the backlog
  • It's straightforward for dealing with things that need dealing with
  • Happy to walk around the home
  • No longer in fear of falling over or tripping over the clutter
  • I have a lovely home - at last!
  • Feels profoundly different in a very good way
  • Can FEEL the space
