Solving a Problem >
I spent my May bank holiday weekend rewarding myself for a good April, both professionally and personally.

How did I reward myself?

By going for my 6 mile walk which I haven't done for several weeks, and then sitting down and reading an inspiring book.

Oh yes, and being OK with my husband doing all the decorating of the dining room. I don't know about you, but I struggle with not being involved with things around the home, so not feeling guilt about sitting in the lounge with my feet up and a good book while my husband prepares, sands and paints is a huge thing for me.

As it turns out, it benefited us both because I learnt a new way to deal with problems. (04/05/2010)
Lucky The Dog... >
(as circulated by a friend)

Mary and her husband Jim had a dog named 'Lucky.'

Lucky was a real character. Whenever Mary and Jim had company come for a weekend visit, they would warn their friends to not leave their luggage open because Lucky would help himself to whatever struck his fancy. Inevitably, someone would forget and something would come up missing. (29/04/2010)
Marvellous Michelle >
Your consultant won’t always be able to completely clear a room in a day – but seeing a significant difference is a success in itself.

In August 2008 Clare received a call from Michelle who had spent the morning on the internet trying to find help for her cluttered home which she shared with her 4 children ranging from the age of 6 to 12.

When Clare took the call Michelle had already had a good look around the website and later told Clare that she felt comfortable and confident that Clutter Clearing could help her just by the look, feel, language and examples on the website.  Clare talked through the various options and Michelle wanted a home consultation asap so they did the telephone consultation that afternoon.

Michelle had come to Clutter Clearing as somewhat of a last hope.  Four years previously her husband had left her and the 4 children, and that’s when the clutter began to grow.

Julies Cluttered Attic >
Do you have clutter in your attic?

Do you wish you could:
  • stop using it as a dumping ground for your clutter
  • know what's in the attic
  • convert the attic into another room
  • board it out
  • insulate it (but can't because of the clutter)
  • just clear the clutter so you can have some choices about what to do with the attic?

Then you'll be able to relate to Julie's experiences of the clutter

What your home says about you >
They say that dogs take after their owners.

Not that I know who 'they are'.

I say that your home says a lot about your personality and, if you've got a lot of clutter, it probably says something about your sense of self confidence and self esteme.

Why?

Comparing Clutter >
Have you ever looked at someone elses home - a friend or family member perhaps - and thought 'wow, how do they have such a clutter free and immaculate home?'

Well don't compare - it's one of the most dangerous things we can do when we are struggling with our clutter.

Why? (19/03/2010)
Feel like everyone else does better than you? >
Did you always feel like everyone else did better than you at school?

Do you feel like all your friends, neighbours or family have better, less cluttered homes than you?

Well here's an article that might make you feel better.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle >
When you're doing some de-cluttering, do you think about your clutter in relation to what you can reduce, reuse and recycle?

If your answer is 'no' don't worry - 18.7% of people put their unwanted clutter out for the bin men and only 9.9% of people recycle it.

So why do people struggle with thinking about de-cluttering and organising in relation to the reduce, reuse and recycle message that councils are pushing these days? (18/02/2010)
Love your home >
Yes, it's that time of year again where we're 'encouraged' by companies looking for a marketing opportunity to show our partners that we love them.  The discussion threads are somewhat predictable - what happens if you don't do something, what people expect from their partners on Valentines day, are the british really unromantic....

My personal opinion is that if my husband made a grand gesture on Valentines day then I'd consider it a waste of money, feel he's only doing it because he thinks it's expected of him, he'd worry about 'getting it right', and he'd probably think it lets him off the hook for making an effort for the other 265 days of the year.

The same could be said to apply to our de-cluttering..... (11/02/2010)
The Clutter Conveyor Belt >
Learn to control what is coming into your home

I had a client just before Christmas last year who struggled with the concept of your home being like a conveyor belt.

Does his story sound familiar? (07/02/2010)
