  • it's going to require you to make time each week, plan your time, take it one week at a time and prioritise doing your clutter clearing differently to how you've done it up until now in order to get visible improvement.  There's no quick solution - you are going to HAVE to make time to clear the backlog.
  • the more time you make (no more than 2 hours a day, 2 days a week), the quicker the backlog of clutter will be cleared and the sooner you will see and feel a visble difference.
  • what you've been doing before now hasn't been working because you haven't got the results you want
  • you're going to have to change your habits if you want to keep the clutter away once you've cleared and organized the backlog
  • weekend blitz's don't work. You probably do one or all of the following:
    • struggle to find a whole day or two in your diary to do the 'weekend blitz'
    • when you do find time you just move the clutter around
    • create piles and then pile the piles on top of each other
    • never actually 'do' anything with the clutter
    • do the physical sorting of the clutter in the room you're trying to clear
    • only give yourself 2 choices - keep it or throw it away (and if you decide to keep it it goes back where it was, or if you're not sure you put it back where it was, or if it's too hard you put it all back and give up).
    • maybe you even say to yourself 'I'm going to be ruthless' .
    • feel guilty, worthless, like a failure, still feel out of control and probably worse than before you started when you get to the end of the blitz and realize you've achieved very little given how much time you've spent de-cluttering
Guess what - our process is much easier, simpler and we believe in being realistic, not ruthless. You already have enough guilt about the clutter, your 'failure' at being able to sort it and your fear of letting go, so let's stop it and try a different way of doing it after all, it can't make you feel worse than you already do, can it?!
